张林，秦渡镇东丰盛村人，1948年出生，1965年开始农民画创作，1976年在西安美院进修,1981年加入中国美协陕西分会。现为中国国际书画艺术研究会员、研究员、淮海艺术函授学院客座教授、中国美协陕西创作中心创作研究员、陕西省对外友协理事、陕西农民画协会副秘书长兼创研部主任、户县美协副主席等。其传略被编入《中国现代美术家人名大辞典》等多部典籍。2005年曾出席中国农民书画研究会全国第二次代表大会；2009年4月随以赵乐际书记为团长的陕西省友好代表团·书画宗教代表团访问日本。

四十余年间，张林先后有百余幅作品在《人民日报》、《解放军报》、《人民画报》、《人民中国》等报刊发表和出版，《秋收时节》、《业大更勤俭》等八件作品入选全国美展并获奖。其代表作为《业大更勤俭》、《金色的秋天》、《毛泽东转战陕北》、《夏收之前》、《农村文化室》、《吉祥草原》、《团结兴旺》等。

《业大更勤俭》创作于1973年。画面内容为生产队的饲养场拴满了肥壮的黄牛和游离于其间的牛犊，正中特写一老年饲养员向青年农民传授编牛笼嘴手艺，右下有编好的牛笼嘴、筛子、工具笼等物。反映生产队牲畜兴旺、家业宏大，但还不忘记勤俭节约、自力更生的作风。

牛是多姿多态的，牛后面的房屋、树木、蓝天等背景是虚幻的。牛前的一老一少近距特写，逼真实在，人物的左前方一片空白。整体构图远近对比、虚实相生，既有纵深的透视感，又有浓墨重彩的质量感，还有虚位以待的空灵感。老农及青年的姿态、面部表情、衣着服饰都用变化的“兼工带写”的线条勾勒而出，生动、扎实、熨贴。随类赋色，热烈明快，但不喧闹，追求国画的清雅韵味。
